Earlier this year, we celebrated ๐ National Apprenticeships Week. See what we got up to!
National Apprenticeships Week celebrates apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
Monday 4th March
In association with Cleshar, we kicked it off by hosting our annual schools challenge final for Year 12 and 13 students, Innovate TfL, where we celebrated the creativity ๐จ and ingenuity of young people.
We asked participants to work in teams to develop an innovation for TfL to meet the Mayorโs transport priorities; healthy streets and healthy people; ๐ฃ a good public transport experience and new homes and jobs. The final saw four teams compete out of a total of 61 schools who registered.
The winning team for 2019 is โMind the Girlsโ from Northwood College for Girls. The team came up with a fantastic innovation which will be co-sponsored by Michele Dix, Managing Director, Crossrail 2 and Claire Mann, Director of Bus Operations. The winning teams were awarded personal tablets ๐ป presented by Jennette Arnold – Assembly Member Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest, Mike Brown MVO โ Commissioner TfL, and Damian Tiernan, Executive Director Cleshar.
The runners-up are from The Henrietta Barnett School who were highly commended, and the other two finalist teams are London Academy and Yavneh College.ย All finalist teams will gain work experience with TfL during the summer โ.
